PowerMac G4 733 MHZ 640 MB RAM OSX 10.3.2
When I'm browsing my files the finder seems to get hung up trying to display the preview of an image file and finaly just crashes. I'm in column view.

I'm not exactly sure what your question is, but you can either fix the corrupted image preview (loading the picture into a graphics program and re-saving should do it), or uncheck "Show Preview Column" in your Finder View Options.

the problem is that while I'm searching for a file, my finder crashes! I'm not sure if it's always the same file that does it. It seems like it happens randomly. I don't want to turn off the preview feature. I like being able to see them!
Just another thing that wasn't a problem until switching to osx.

Try trashing your Finder prefs. It is /Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Finder.plist

Hi,
Thank you for the hint.
I had an analog problem with the Finder crashing each time I wanted to use "Get Info" on folders. The funny thing is that "Get Info" worked alright on documents and programs and that the problem was found in only one account.
The thing started after a number of kernel panics due to a malfunctionoing RAM module. After replacing the RAM module the trouble continued. I did an "Archive and install" but kept the users.... Same thing.
Trashing the Finder prefs worked!
THX!!!

Hi, I'm having a similar problem on my MacBook with Leopard, When I use preview to view any file, it opens and then when I press space bar to close the preview, It quits finder and relaunches it, closing the window that i had open. Any help would be much appreciated!
