To Imac or To Ibook?

Hi to all.

I currently use PC's but after seeing OS X, I'm amazed by the look and feel of things among other things.
So here's a simple question by someone who doesn't have experience on the mac side.

Buy the new Imac or the Ibook?

Although prices are similar, I'm more fond of the G4.

If portability isn't a major concern, I'd spend my cash on the iMac. A G4 is a much nicer chip for OS X than a G3. That's not to say the iBook isn't a nice machine, but a G4/800 is much more potent than the G3/600.

But if you need mobility, it's tough to beat the iBook - i run OS X full time on our G3/500 model and it works just fine.

well, i was in the same boat, except i knew that i wanted the mobility. i've never owned a mac before, but having a bsdish box, that can also be my desktop, that is tiny was definitely too good to pass up.
