View Full Version : Where should I buy my iPod?
So, I was wondering if someone could give firm advice on this. I would really like to buy it at the "release party" at the semi-local Apple store, for that warm geeky feeling and the free t-shirt. But I've heard people swear on getting an extended warranty from CompUSA or BestBuy, for better service in case something goes wrong. Those stores are almost everywhere and don't require shipping the 'Pod away. What to do?

Are you in NYC?
J&R (http://www.jandr.com) has them in stock, Apple authorized..
I think I'm over-thinking things.... look, I'm even talking (replying) to myself. :p Most people never use those extended warranties, right? And my credit card will extend Apple's warranty for an additional year, so that should cover my butt, right? worry, worry, worry....

Nope, not in NYC, or I'd certainly consider J&R. Do they have nice warranty extensions? I'll recommend them to my friend in the area.
Thanks, though. :)

 no, go to Tekserve, support a REAL buisness that isn't owned by a corporation, tekserve has been the best place on the east coast for mac repairs and sales for years.....
yes i work there, but were hardcore apple, a real mom and pop store that really knows macs.
PC people have to shop @ J&R as punishment.....

The Apple Store is for sure a safe bet to buy an iPod, the only places that I know that sell them cheaper are macmall.com and amazon.com. The only place I found to be special in NYC is this shop that sells and repairs ipods in NYC (http://www.portatronics.com) and gives a better trade-in value for old iPods than the Apple Store.
