Just another suggestion:

I find myself using the "view new posts" link frequently, and it would be nice if it was an option in the "forum jump" menu. As it is now (unless I've missed something), I have to either "jump" home, or click on the home button, and then select "view new posts".

I guess that neither of us have anything better to do this morning ;)

My way around this one was to save a bookmark to the new posts page and have it on the Bookmarks bar.

The url you need to use is:

http://forums.macosxhints.com/search.php?s=&action=getnew

Yeah, I have that and a search for my user name in my forum-bookmark-bar-sub-menu, but the "getnew" search wouldn't work after a while

wait, I just figured it out: I had bookmarked the final search address instead of the intermediate one (before you are redirected).

as for the first part of your last post... I'm not a geek! --heavy breathing-- --denial-- --white knuckles--

actually, I do have plenty of "better" things I should be doing... but am I doing them? Hell no! Instead of making money I'm ty..p...i.n...g... wait, I could be making money!

no, it's late (west coast). I must sleep.

Yep, that's why I edited my previous post. The final search address doesn't work (at least not reliably).

Oh, I hadn't noticed your edit... you're sneaky!

On a somewhat [un]related topic... I just discovered the "who's online" page. Really neat. Kinda voyeuristic though.

You only need worry about that page when it shows someone else as 'Viewing Who's Online' - as just happened when I looked at it; i.e. you were still being voyeuristic ;)

:D LOL - yes, when I saw that status show up under your name, I did have the urge to run and hide...

Actually, in all seriosity... I'd like to indicate that just because we have both come up with a make-shift solution to the "new posts" Forum Jump option, and strayed a bit off topic, that doesn't mean that I wouldn't like to hear from the admins on the original thread suggestion...

...

[actually going to sleep this time...]

The Forum Jump is an automatic vBulletin feature. So while adding choices to the menu might be useful (I agree that your example makes a ton of sense), I'm hesitant to customize the core code, as it makes upgrading in the future more complex -- I have to make sure to bring over the customizations each time.

As such, I think the bookmarks menu item is the best solution ... if you put it in the first nine spots in Safari, then it's a quick Command-number_key away :-). It's how I have it set on my machine.

Thanks for the suggestion...I'll forward it to the vBulletin team, and perhaps they'll integrate it in a future release.

Thanks, Rob. While you're at it, you might suggest other simple search options like searching for your own user name... "search for my user name" - that would be nice.
