Yet Another strange Safari Crash

Hi

I, too, am experiencing the "Strange Safari Crash" phenomenon for the last two days on Safari 0.9. I tried all the things explained in the "Strange Safari Crash" thread, especially removing the cookies.plist inside ~user/Library/applicationSupport/WebFoundation. For me, it was to no avail... Safari still crashes on certain pages (that worked like a charm just a few days before). Some pages do work though but the crash incidence of Safari made Web browsing a living hell. I can't rely on Safari anymore. Here is the latest Crash Log. I don't understand a thing at UNIX. If someone had a hint of what to reset to make things work again, it would be a great help. Thanks in advance

Will the same result happen in a new user account? Try making a new user account and see what happens.

I seem to be having this exact same problem, i.e. Safari crashes when I try to load certain pages that it used to load fine. It first happened when I was using v74 (not right when I started using v74, some time after using it for a while), and upgrading t to Safari 1.0 did not help. I have tried all of the same solutions. Also, when I tried creating another user, Safari worked fine for that user.

I did upgrade to 1.0 but the problem did not fade away. It is also working fine when I log under another user. I guess some cache or preferences are corrupted but where... :confused:

Hi there

I've been using Safari since the first betas and am now on to version 1.0. But just yesterday Safari started to contantly crash. It would crash whenever I visited a page that used any plug-in: flash, java and even quicktime. I can't even download without crashing! I've tried using Safari in another user and it seems to work fine (and as it should do). Is there anyway that I can sort out my user version of Safari or will i have to go and reconpile my whole user file in to the new one?

In ebara's crash log there were references to "ape". That's unsanity's Application Enhancer. It caused a variety of apps to crash on my system before I removed it and all its haxies.
My personal experience of Safari 1.0 has been quite positive. I got "unexpected quits" on a regular basis with earlier versions, but 1.0 has not crashed even once (yet).

I fixed Safari!! After reading the "Safari 1.0 thread," I saw that ericw13 said that he had success removing his entire ~/Library folder (and backing it up), then copying specific files and folders back in to his ~/Library and testing Safari. Another user, Savetz, said that he was able to narrow the problem causing file to ~/Library/Fonts/Times RO. Removing that file allowed Safari to work. In my case, I narrowed it down to ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist

I am not a expert on these types of things, but I would recommend trying removing either of these two files first, logging out, then back in, and testing Safari. If that doesn't work, you can do as I did and try to find the exact file causing the problem by testing removing certain groups of files and folders, and narrowing down which file is the problem.

com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist

that was the culprit

now, Safari 1.0 works like a charm again
