recovering contacts and dates from ipod

Hi,

I am helping someone recover all his contact info from his ipod. The and palm that he had his orignal on have died.

Is there a simple way to pull his data back into palm desktop entourage or ical and address book so that I can synch up his palmIIIc and new ipod as well as have a copy on an imac?

The contacts are in the form of vcards. I copied the file to the macs hard drive and tried to drag it into entoruage and noting happened even through entourage is supposed to be able to import vcards.

Can Isync pull contact and calandar info off a ipod? Where does it put the info. I have an imac account. What impact would syncing have on the data I already have there?

If I use isync is it a trow step process? -first sync the ipod to .mac and then .mac to the palmIII?
