Hi,

The only copy of my contacts and calandar reside on an ipod. I think they were exported from Palm Desktop into one large vcard file. I copied them back onto a mac and found out that the contacts are still in vacrd format.

How can I get these files into addressbook or palm desktop or Entourage so that I can transfer them to another ipod and a palm pilot?

Entourage can import a single vcard but in bonks on the combined vcard file format. I can't seem to get it back into pal desktop.

Would Isync help? I have a .mac account.

Is there a way to parse the file into individual vcards? Seems like there should be a utility that can do this.

Thanks, David

Yup. It's called iSync.

So how do I get isync to work then?

I have used isync to sync my mac to my .mac account or a ipod to my mac but what if all the files are on the ipod (this is a 5GB model with vacrd files on it)?

I have treid resetting in isync. The sync happens but nothing shows up in my imacs mail box or calandar.

Okay.
I was able to get the file into address book. The addresses had been exported from Palm Desktop last September as a single file called addresses and copied over to the ipod using the finder.

To work with the file I just copied it back over to a mac. To get address book to import the file I added .vcf to the file and then choose open with address book (from the get info window). Both actions had to happen for this to work. I then dragged the file into address book and all 970 records imported. I tried the same thing with Palm Desktop and Entourage: Palm did nothing with the file and Entourage only imported the first record. Once the addresses were in address book then I had no problems using iSync to back them up to .mac and to my friend's 30 ipod.

I have not looked at what format the files are on the ipod.

So from what I can see from iSync there is no way to sync an ipod and a palmIIIx with an .mac account without also syncing the files in the mac that you are working on. That could be a problem if one wants to use a friends mac to sync their phone and their ipod right?
