The Dock / App Names

When you run your cursor over the dock, the app icons enlarge, and "show" their respective names. For example, the "e" icon for Internet Explorer will read "Internet Explorer". Since I'm well aware the name of the application, is there a way to turn that off so that the icon enlarges - and that's it? Thanks.

I'm not aware of any setting that does this. Perhaps a Terminal "hack" of some kind?

I wondering the same thing. Has anyone ever found a way to turn off the names?

On those rare occasions when I share my computer with husband, children, friends, they are eternally grateful for those labels. That's because my beautiful Dock has all custom icons exceping the Trash and Finder.They are various colors of spheres, lovers' knots, and lifesavers.

But I don't share at all and I know what all the icons represent!
