Is it possible to change permissions on a User Documents folder to allow Public Folder type access by other users on the network? I have tried doing this with the Terminal and the "chmod g+r [g+w and g+X] Documents" commands. After executing the commands I create a long list which shows the permissions changed for the folder, but it is still not accessible by others. I am able to turn on and off access to the Public folder using the method above but cannot effect any other directories.

I believe you need to be able to access netinfo's sharepoints. I have not played around much with it so I can't give you the command line or netinfo way. The server version has a gui for this or you can download SharePoints via version tracker.
