Hi everyone-
For some reason, I can't get the startup disk control panel in X to recognize my Mac OS 9 System Folder. I'm using a B&W G3 400 with 9.2.2 and 10.1.2 installed on the same (only) partition. I believe the folder has not been "blessed," although Classic starts up fine with it. I don't have a bootable OS 9 cd here at the office to boot into and bless it, either. Any suggestions?
Thanks-
Jay

Jay, this is a most unusual situation, in that usually selecting Classic helps the OS to recognize the System 9 Folder.

Is your OS 9 folder on a separate partition? If it is, you can restart and hold down the Option key in newer Macs and get a start-up partition option. If not, I think you'll need to reboot using boot CD, select 9, restart, select X, and see if that helps.

This is stretching - but if you have another firewire machine and a 6 pin firewire cable you could boot the B&W into Firewire Target Disk Mode (TDM) and bless the system folder from the other machine.

1. Unplug all firewire devices from the B&W.
2. Restart the B&W while holding down the T key. (If the screen comes up with the firewire symbol you're in TDM. If it does not - the machine is unsupported and this won't work.)
3. Plug the TDM'd machine into another firewire machine booted into 9.
4. When the B&W's drives mount on the 9 machine you can bless the System Folder.

Good luck - you'll probably need a 9 boot disk.
