I'm running OS X 10.1.3 on a G4 Cube with OS 9.2.2 as my "Classic" environment. Since I've managed to migrate most of my commonly used apps to OS X, I don't routinely start Classic when I boot into OS X. When I do need to run a Classic app under OS X, I generally use the Classic pane of System Prefs to shut it down after quitting the Classic app. However, lately when I hit the "Stop" button an alert from Classic saying, "The application 'Finder' has unexpectedly quit...." appears and then the Classic pane shows "Classic is stopping" indefinitely. Eventually I give up and hit the "Force Quit" button of the Classic pane of System Prefs, which works. But, the next time I boot into OS 9.2.2 the automatic Disk First Aid kicks in because it thinks the computer was not properly shut down previously.

Any ideas about what's going on and how to stop it?

Sounds like some sort of problem with the 9 system, maybe a corrupt file?

As part of my debugging effort I've reinstalled Mac OS 9.2.2, but the problem quitting the Classic environment continues. Thus, I doubt the problem is a corrupted file on the Classic side.
