I just hate the cursor. Reminds me too much of PeeCees.

The only thing on OS X icons I've seen deals with Finder icons (Resexcellence has an article on that process here (http://www.resexcellence.com/hack_html_00/10-11-00.shtml)) but I don't think that will work for the cursor.
I don't even think the themes that I've seen attack the cursor; I would guess it's handled at a lower level than a typical icon swap? Total SWAG on my part, though :-)

SWAG expands to any number of things, but most go along the lines of "Stupid Wild-Ass Guess" ;-)

Fetch is an FTP client for OS X (you can snag it from Version Tracker (http://www.versiontracker.com/) if you want).
When uploading or downloading files, the mouse pointer turns into a wee running dog - I guess he's playing a game of "fetch". Man, those coders really crack me up sometimes ;)
Anyway yeah - if a program can customise the pointer, it should be possible to do it by hand. We could save a lot of guesswork if someone emailed the Fetch coders and asked!

That's a built-in cursor resource for Fetch. You can't use that method to modify the universal settings.
One thing I'd like to see is an Aqua-fied cursor with a drop shadow.

That would be good, and standard cursers thst all apps use, like on windows.
