My FTP server: PPC 7100 & a G4
OS: 9.1 & 10.1.2
File sharing: On
Netpresenz: running
Users: Enabled
Enable File Sharing clients to connect over TCP/IP: enabled

Barricade Router: set with port20 and 21 open

My users are unable to connect to my PPC 7100 server. Seems to hang with the "Getting Directory list" message being displayed.

What am I doing wrong. Timbuktu and Appleshare file sharing work great, but FTP will not work. I really need help with this.

even if I designate my Mac with OS X on it, the same error comes up when people connect. It gets stuck at "Getting File List" or Can't build data connection. timed out.

Had this problem when I was FTPing to a windows box. Solved the problem by changing the passive mode on the client. (if I was using passive mode and had the problem of the directory hanging. I just turned off the passive mode and it worked great.)

My FTP server: iMac
OS: 10.1.2
File sharing: On

Users: Enabled
Enable File Sharing clients to connect over TCP/IP: enabled

Barricade Router: set with port20 and 21 open

My Mac users are unable to ftp to my iMac server. Seems to hang with the "Getting Directory list" message being displayed.

If a user tries to connect to my iMac throught a Unix box, there is no problem. Same thing goes with PC users. no problem. It is only Mac users using an FTP client [Fetch etc.....] What can I do?
