View Full Version : Ethernet card for OS X?

One of the things keeping me from moving my G3 AIO to OS X is the fact that it's currently the gateway machine for my LAN. Specifically, I'm using a Kingston [?] NIC to allow my TiG4 to connect to the web (the NIC came with the DSL modem), and the Kingston has a driver extension to make it work with OS 9.x.

When I move the G3 to OS X I'll probably need to get a new NIC (Kingston's web page tells me they no longer make NICs -- and that was about nine months ago). Apple warns that third-party PCI ethernet cards may not work under OS X. You see my problem.

I'd really appreciate any recommendations of OS X compatible NICs.

Thanks,
Glenn

We're currently using Asanté PCI ethernet cards at work, in Mac OS X, without any trouble.

Thanks for the quick reply. The Asante 690 looks like a really good deal.

Best,

I've used this model in my system. The drivers are downloadable from the company site. I think I paid something like $13ea. from Buy.com

I'm sure that's much cheaper than the Asantes. FWIW I first learned about this card from the the original macosxhints.com site!
