See http://www.karelia.com/watson/

One of the best reasons to use Mac OS X is because Watson runs on it (but not on OS 9 or Windows). The latest version (1.5) adds even more features to an already-wonderful product.

For those of you who don't know what Watson is or does, see the web page above. It's a counterpart to Sherlock that gives you easy access to eBay info, movies in your area (complete with Quicktime previews and the times at each theater), flight arrivals, zip codes and phone numbers, etc. I like surfing yahoo in a column-finder like window, and now it reports on versiontracker listings.

You have to pay the registration fee to get some of these features, but the unregistered version will whet your appetite.

Whoops - I posted a thread with the same subject about ten minutes after you did. I deleted it, so I'll just say here that I second what Phil says - it's a super-neat program.

Watson is AWESOME, especially now that they have a added VersionTracker. I use it for recipes, movies, e-bay searches, flights, TV, almost everything it offers. The program just rocks! And the new icon is cool too. If you try it, you will definitely want to buy it. If Apple offered Watson and EasyFind instead of Sherlock, there would be zero complaints!

Am I right in my understanding that Jaquar will transmogrify Sherlock into pretty much this application?

yep. and about time, too. i never did like sherlock too very much and i couldn't justify the cost of owning the cool app watson.

sherlock's been subdivided. sherlock proper is now watson-like. sweet.

and find files, the other side, is a very welcome addition. it just finds files without the crappy, onerous sherlock overhead...

i'm addicted to the tres cool app LaunchBar. in the newest version, LaunchBar lets you access individual Watson tools directly. for example, type "PB" and you go directly to the Phone Book tool.

cool beans, petey. i, too, use launchbar extensively. hopefully, lb will habla new sherlock modules, too.

holy cow! i hadn't looked at watson in a while, because the first rev was hamstrung by not owning it. i just dl'd 1.5.3 and it's really quite nifty.

back in the java one days, i forsaw apps that would become container-like, that drop-in/plug-in functionality and extensibility would be de rigueur. watson's a good example. me like.

Watson 1.5.4 now provides weather conditions, complete with doplar radar, infra-red satellite, and long-range forecasts.

It just keeps on improving! :)
