ok,
i have 2 partitions, one for osX and one for os9,
everything was fine, but i needed to boot in os9, so i restarted, held option to select os9 to boot, but is was noware to be seen,
so i seleced osX and now the os9 drive only has a few bits in the system folder, and the rest gone, and i don't know where to :(
so, anyway, i intend to re-install os9 from the CD to the os9 drive, how do i get osX to see it as classic, or does that just happen?
i figured this was the best forum for this post, if not please direct me to the correct place :)

This is a fine place to post that question. After you reinstall 9, open up the OS X System Preferences and select the 9 System Folder in the 'Classic' pref panel.
Any idea about what happened to your 9 partition? If not, some more info about the system might help someone to diagnose the problem.

Seems a bit weird that you held down Option and only the OS X partition showed up.
That would be because the OS 9 System Folder had *already* been part-wiped by something, so the ROM didn't think it was a full install of OS 9 (reasonable enough). That means that OS X did something to it...
It would help to know what you did beforehand to get it to go so wrong? Did you install any softwasre, run any apps in Classic that may have crashed? Had any other apps crash in OS X, etc.?
Thanks.

well, the system folder still has a few files in it, all the folders are there, without any contents, the alias's in the startup items are still there, and thats it,
i think i was just typing some text into Textedit,
i installed psudeo and macjanitor shortly befor into osX, and i installed a SM card reader driver into os9, nothing crashed in os9 or osX, infact nothing has shown the least sigh of falling over since i put osX on the system :)

that's a weird one alright...I think the first thing I'd do is run a directory or disk repair of the 9 partition or simply reinitialize it before reinstalling.

Have you blessed your system folder? If not, use this command as root (or sudo):
bless -folder9 "/Volumes/Mac OS 9/System Folder" -setOF
Make sure you replace /Volumes/.... with the correct location of your OS 9 folder. HTH.
