I recently installed OS X on my Beige G3 366, 256mb ram.
When I start up OS 9 from X, I get a small window that pops up with just this -3242
Its a OS 9 window, not an OS X window.
I have 10.1 and 9.2.2
Anyone else see this error? I have thought of a few possible causes which I will look into tonight, after I close this small attention window, OS 9 seems to work fine.
Thanks for help with this.

Well, in the include file 'MacErrors.a' that ships with the MPW developer suite, error -3242 is defined as "Protocol Not Supported". It is a networking error message so I'd guess your loading some extension which is trying to do an unsupported network activity.
MacIPX perhaps?

While I was writing this message, I can think of two things software related that it can be.
I just got my Beige G3, and the only two things I installed, was XLR8 control panel, to monitor my cpu temp and modify the cache speed.
The other thing I installed was iVasion MacPoet. Since you are saying IPX and protocal. It must be trying to load Mac Poet.
The error does not seem to affect the performace of the computer. I will disable MacPoet and see if that fixes the error message.
Thanks for your help.
