Hiding X from 9.2.2

I've just installed X on a friends iBook, and all of the X folders (Library, System, Applications, etc..) as well as the mach files are visible in the root of the drive.

This friend of mine is not planning on using X right away, but they are confused and troubled by the presence of these files and folders.

I guess what I'm asking is if anyone knows of a way for these files and folders to be invisible when the machine boots in 9.2.2 yet still be bootable into X?

i think separate partitions are probably the best solution to this issue. search the forums for partitioning hints.
