Networking w/Windows?

I'm trying to get my TiBook on the church network which is a Win 98 network. My understanding is that with 10.1.2 I should be able to get a one way thing working where I can see the other computers but they can't see me. I've gotten all of the settings copied over but the only thing I can get working is the shared internet connection from the receptionists computer. I can access the web from the network but not the other computers. Any ideas on what I'm missing here?

Can you ping the other machines?

I don't know, how do you do that? As you can tell, I'm not a networking guy...

I'm no expert at this, but I do know that you must first set the volumes of the Win98 machines so that they are shared. Right click on drive C: and select Sharing. Click New Share and give it a name, click Share This Folder, too. (These instructions actually apply to W2K, but I think Win98 is closely similar)
