Does anyone know if OS X.1 logs appletalk connections, transfers etc? If so, where are those logs stored? This is without Appleshare IP or X Server, just the regular old personal version.

I used the 3rd party utility 'SharePoints' to enable this. The log files are stored in /Library/Logs/AppleFileService/.
Go to VersionTracker and search for 'SharePoints'. It shows quite a bit of configuration options for the AFP server, and can run as either an application or a PrefPane.
You can probably enable this stuff via NetInfo Manager as well.

That worked, and allowed me to do what I wanted to do. Logging at the level of detail I wanted was not enabled, but 'Sharepoints' allowed me to enable it. All sharepoints really does is tinker with the netinfo DB.
under the config->applefileserver->logging_attributes it added some parameters, which is what I wanted to do. Thanks for your help.
