Here (http://news.com.com/2100-1040-883861.html) is a story about OQO and their new PDA size PC.

Some ex-TiBook engineers were responsible. This is what I hoped the iPod would become, and maybe it still can. But Apple was trumped (for once) this time. Unless MWNY has a big surprise, since this thing isn't supposed to ship until second half 2002.

Am I the only one who would buy an OS X machine like this?

I would be wary of these right away, personally. It's got two strikes against it right off the bat as far as I'm concerned:

1) Windows.
2) More efficient units in development, presumably coming soon after the initial product launch.

Anything this new is a beta product. I'm not laying down $1,000 for that.

Yeah, I know. I have an original MessagePad, too. :D The 2nd generation Newton was much improved.

I still hope to see iPod move in this direction, though. We probably would want more than a 10 GB drive.

Linus Torvolds notwithstanding....If I were to buy this and NOT want to run XP on it, could I install Linux/FreeBSD/Darwin on it? I think not. I think you would need a special port of Linux to run on this box.

Nice idea but still too new and unformed IMHO
