View Full Version : Can you do fast, "fast" forward in an iPod?

Looking for advice from experienced iPod users.

Does the iPod have a scroll bar to advance the music? Like, for instance, I only like listening to mixes, some of which are 3 hours long. Imagine, that you want to start listening 1:43 minutes into the mix. Now press the fast forward button and wait. And wait. Does this advance faster and faster the longer you hold it? And if so, has anyone actually tried with a 3 hour mix, and not a 5 minute song? That is, if it peaks at 1 minute intervals, then I don't want it!

You get the point. So why can't I use the "wheel" on the iPod to do that? Kinda like using the progress bar in winamp to move to a certain point in the song. Instead, the wheel is defaults to the music volume during playback. Can I change this?

This is the determing factor in me buying an iPod.

Thanks!

Ok, so I found this thing called "scrubbing with the scrollwheel." I believe that answered my question.

yes, you press the middle button once i believe until a diamond appears, then use the scrollwheel to advance the music.

Yeah, took me a while too to figure out that you just had to simply press the middle button to get the iTunes type diamond bar. You can skip through your music really fast if you keep circling.

Also, if you press it again when the diamond bar is up, then you will go to a new bar with 5 dots. Circle around to give that song a 1-5 star rating.

Note: Actually, I did a search to find out how to 'fast-forward' and accidentally went to the 5 dots on my 2G Nano.:)
