HI

Does anyone know how you can setup classic to use the same desktop folder as OS X (ie. ~/Desktop)

I still use the calssic apps Office 2001, Dreamweaver, etc. on a day-to-day basis and it's really frustrating saving files to the desktop, to have to then open the classic desktop folder and drag them over to my 'real' desktop.

Any ideas?

Steve

unless I've misunderstood your question (which is possible), you should be able to double click on the classic desktop folder alias that should be on your desktop already (?)

If that's not what you meant, you can also set up an alias, either in your apple menu (classic side), open/save favorites, etc. of the OSX desktop, and on the other side, you can drag your classic desktop folder to your dock. (you may have to make it visible first).

Otherwise, if I've missed your question completely, I apologize.

What I want to do is to NOT have two folders at all... I'd like OS X and Classic to use the SAME folder.

The items on the OS X desktop are mapped across to the classic desktop in open/save dialogs, but items placed straight onto the classic desktop do not appear on the OS X desktop (I hope that makes sense!)

I'd like the classic desktop folder to be the OS X desktop folder - One and the same!

Is this possible via some cunning use of aliases of other links? I've tried a few things, but no success yet.

Thanks

Steve

ah...well, hopefully someone who knows positively will enter the thread, but my guess would be that you cannot do that, as the desktop folder of each are different enough in nature not to allow that. For one thing, the classic desktop folder is essentially an invisible file and needs to stay invisible in order to function properly.

Steve, how about keeping the folders the same, but putting aliases of the contents of the other desktop folders in OS X? I've done that for my wife's iBook and it works fine. Of course, when she reboots in 9, her X desktop entries don't show--which is OK since she can't really use them in 9 anyway.
