I'm a recent convert from the PC world and I'm writing this more to applaud the Mac community in General... Through the years I've seen and posted on many forums and not thought too much about it. I've only been surfing Mac forums for a month and I'm completely amazed at the level of articulation and intelligence that I find myself surrounded by... In all my years on forums and the like I've never caught myself going to a dictionary for any reason, but here in the last month have made more than one trip... LOL The old parent cliché that you are who you hang around seems to be smiling at me... This on top of a generally positive feeling of community... I come from the Military and there are many but only one U.S. Marine Corps and we are very tightly connected (like a family) even after you get out... I have those same feelings within the Mac community... I've found my home, thank you......
PROUD new Mac User....:D

Hi Rod
welcome aboard!
Yes you'll find us a congenial bunch. I've found mac users to be pretty diverse. I myself am a firewall admin...usually working with Solaris unix but really like X. I'm sure you'll like it too. Remember with 'nix you can learn it in small sips from the well....ask us anything and we'll do our best to help.

Dual 1G is a kind of dream for me, but dream on some more. You're definitely on the "right track." Welcome to Mac!

(salivates over your new machine)
welcome to a very diverse community! IN general and for the most part it is as you've found it, people very willing to help you with problems (if they know the answer) and also willing to roll up their sleeves to help track down an answer.
