View Full Version : Pass sound input to speakers?

I've got a nice set of speakers (Klipsch ProMedia) that I thought had a nifty feature - an extra input jack on the side. I got a DVD player this weekend and hooked it up only to find the extra input jack only sends sound to the front speakers... to use all four I need to run the DVD player to the computer's line-in (an iMic, specifically) and then back to the speaker-out. Recording and playing demonstrated that this sounds great... but I can't figure out how to tell OS X to send the sound in realtime. Any ideas?

According to Griffin Technology support for the iMic, OS X does not currently support audio passthrough. Ironic, if you recall the hype from Apple about what a superior platform OS X 10.1 was going to be for audio professionals. They deserve a pie in the face for that one, IMO.

I believe historically, apple has issues with sound?

Something to do with Macintosh (the Home Stereo Company).

If my memory serves right, they told apple that they were going to sue them for using there name. Apple said no. then Macintosh said fine, but the computers better no play music or sound otherwise, then they would sue apple.

Apples first alert sound was then named sosumi (so sue me)

Cheers,
