I have an iBook connected to the Internet via an Airport and a dial-up connection, so I have Internet Connect running all the time. If I logout without hitting the "Disconnect" button, the logout process is quick and the login screen appears within seconds.
However, if I hit the Internet Connect "Disconnect" button and then logout, the process can take three or four minutes. This is true whether or not I logout immediately or wait until the Airpot modem has reset.
Since my family is often anxious to get at the phone line, I like to disconnect before logging out so we don't have to wait for the connection to time out. However, it is very inconvenient to have to wait several minutes before being able to close up the iBook.
Any ideas as to why the logout process is so slow after disconnecting the Airport modem?
