Someone accidentally unplugged my ipod from my powerbook "unsafely". Now, I have no songs, you cannot turn the ipod off by holding the play button anymore, and it will not mount on my laptop via firewire (i have it sync'ed with my desktop though).
Anyone have any suggestions? Or can point me in the directino of a good previous thread? Its a 4G iPod by the way.
Thanks,
Bill

Press the center button and play/pause at the same time for about 5 seconds....it should reset....and also plug it into the wall, as it doesn't function well without a good battery charge. After it's fully charged try and sync it with the desktop and the laptop and do restores if that fails....

How do you know if the reset (center+play) was successful?

I just tried installing iTunes on my fathers XP laptop. That wouldnt recognize it either. Is it possible I fried the firewire cable?
How come it won't turn off anymore? I guess I'll have to wait until I get home to see if sync'ing it with my desktop via USB works.
