Hi,

Apple iBook & iPod novice (bought both less than a month ago) here:
2 questions, please:

1) Downloaded a voice file from the BBC site, has an extension I have never come across, and I can't seem to get to play in iTunes.

extension is *.ram

Could someone, please, tell me what format this is, and what I can use to listen to this sound file?

2) How do I up-load this to my iPod so i can listen to it on the iPod ( I have a new (4G) iPod 20Gb & a G4 iBook)?

thanks. :)

You probably could have put your second question in your other thread: http://forums.macosxhints.com/showthread.php?t=29265

But, in response, the only way I can think of converting .ram to an iPod-playable file (let's say mp3 or aif) would possibly be SoundConverter (http://www.dekorte.com/Software/OSX/SoundConverter/);
Or, to simply record it using Audio Hijack/Pro (http://www.rogueamoeba.com/) or WireTap (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/freebies/).

Thanks, yes, I could have added it to the other thread, but thought that this portion was very spcific to iPod, and wanted to ost on the iPod forum just in case there were some members browsing here who wldn't visit the other forums.

Thanks, will visit and report back.

I am told there ia free version of the AudioHijack Pro, and will this also do the job? :)

It's a RealPlayer file, but I don't know how to get it onto my iPod either. Go to real.com and click on ''free player'' if you want to play it on your mac.

You can use RealPlayer to play the file and the trial version of Audio Hijack Pro (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/16382) to convert the sound to a format the iPod supports.
