keeping a few songs in itunes off the ipod when synced

I was wondering if you could somehow mark songs in my itunes so they won't be put on my ipod. Examples would be singles I have bought before the entire album comes out, then I buy the entire it. I want to keep the singles because it has different cover art (I know I'm weird) but I don't want them on my ipod when I select all that artists music. Michelle Branch for instance seems to put the singles too close to the songs in the album.

Is there anyway of marking songs in itunes so they are not put on the ipod on sync? I tried taking them off but with auto sync just puts them back on, and I like auto sync.

If you go to "iPod Options" in iTunes and click on "Only update checked songs," and then uncheck the singles you don't want to have on the iPod, that should do it. Hope that helps!
