Hello all! This is probably a super stupid question but I guess I need to ask it.

I have a new Fuji FinePix 6800Z Digital Camera. According to the Apple site, it is fully compatible with iPhoto. Yet, when I hook it up (and I've restarted a couple times) my computer doesn't recognize it. The drivers that come with the camera are OS9 so I haven't bothered with them. I just assumed iPhoto would recognize the camera when it was hooked up.

I'm running a G4 450 512mb and OSX 10.1.4. (Btw, it didn't work in 1.0 or 1.1.1.)

What could be the problem? I'm stumped. Thanks!

Are you using a card reader?

No. The camera comes with a cradle for the camera (think of a Palm Pilot). OSX is supposed to mount the camera as a disk when I insert it onto the cradle. From there it's just a matter of setting it up with iCapture/iPhoto, etc... unfortunately, that's what it's not doing.

Now for the record, I have found out that OS9 WILL mount it as a HD so the Fuji software can read the files. Now why won't OSX do it? hmmmm?

Hi

I have a Nikon Coolpix 5000 and although it is listed on the Apple website as being compatible with OSX - The Nikon website States that the software for X has been recalled (April 2002)because of problems with X and shoukld be available in June. It does however open in X and iPhoto with the card reader. Take a look at the Fuji website and the specs for your camera.

I'm having a similar problem... Neither of my digital cameras will connect. I have a Nikon Coolpix s210 and a Pentax K10d. I've tried installing the transfer software from both websites, but when I hook up the camera through the USB cable, I get nothing. Is there some setting that needs to be tinkered with on my macbook (sw-10.5.4)?

Sometimes there is a data transfer mode setting on the camera itself. You will need to switch it between PPTP and USB Mass Storage or something like that.
