If I click on my iPod icon in the Source window of iTunes, all the music is "greyed-out", and a lock icon appears next to my "Free: x.xx GB" notice (under the left/right scroll bar).

I can't upload any new music to my iPod.

How can I remedy this?!?!?!

Thanks in advance for any help! :D

It sounds like you are in AutoSync mode. You can only do manual syncing in, well, Manual Sync mode.

The music is always greyed-out in this view, because you can't move or affect the songs on the iPod - you have to do it through the Library.

The padlock has always been there on mine, and I've had an iPod on and off since they were first introduced.

If you've made changes to the songs in your Library or added new ones, then the iPod should sync normally. Try adding songs to your Library, then right-clicking the iPod in the Source pane, and choosing Update Songs on <iPod name>.

My iPod was indeed in "Auto Sync" mode and would not automatically upload songs after I loaded them into the library.

I changed it to "Manual Sync" and drug a song from the Library to my iPod and it worked fine.

I changed it back to "Auto Sync" and all of a sudden it started to automatically upload songs ... just as it should!

THANKS for the guidance! :) :D
