Right now I connect my iPod to my stereo to listen to music but I was wondering what people thought of airport express.
With my iPod there is a lot of fluctuation in sound quality that I hear from the stereo which I don't hear when I am wearing my headphones. Does this happen with airport express?
Another question about APE. If the music sounds good can I ditch my Linksys wireless base station for it? I live in a small apartment so using it as a repeater isn't really worth it.
Thanks for any stories, opinions and suggestions.

I run an AirTunes streaming music directly into my receiver. I get no distortion at all. I also live in a pretty small space, so the only wireless boradcast device I have is the AirTunes unit. It works with the Airport Admin. software that ships with OSX. All of the functionality of the Airport Base Station is contained within AirTunes. I don't know what differences of signal strength there are, however.
And on that note, I am wondering if having the AirTunes unit behind the receiver diminishes the signal strength at all. Anyone?
As for you, schwartze, I'd go for it. I love my AirTunes.

Thanks for the info kungfumath.
I don't know about the unit being behind the receiver, but if it helps you my Linksys router is sitting on top on a subwoffer, next to the receiver, with all my cable, stereo, and xbox wires there, speaker wires running underneath it and smack againt the wall where the apt buzzer is and I have good strength with that. I can make it all the way across my small apartment with my laptop with no signal loss - even make it out my window to the terrace no problemo... and it's an old building.
Okay, that last part was a rant, sorry.
Thanks again. I think it will be a great addition to the new battery and hard drive for this aging laptop.
