MacMinute.com:

iPod Store allows limited customer product ratings

Several MacMinute readers note that Apple's new iPod Store has added product ratings, allowing customers to submit reviews and rate products from one to five stars.
Strangely, users can only review third-party products--all Apple gear is automatically given a "5-Apple rating" because the company says "we think they're great." In the frequently asked questions of the reviews program, Apple tells why customers can't rate Apple products: "Would you trust us to display less than perfect ratings on our own products? We didn't think so!"

Update: Apple has now quietly removed the "trust us" line from the FAQ.

Now that’s what I call honesty! :)

I give this thread 5 stars! (But that's the only choice.)

Apple removes own product ratings

November 10 - 23:44 EST** Apple has quietly removed a feature from its online store that automatically gave its own products a "5-Apple" rating. As reported by MacMinute, the online Apple Store last week added the ability to review and rate third-party products, but not Apple gear. The company said at the time that it gives its products a perfect rating because "we think they're great." All mention of the Apple ratings has now been removed from the program's frequently asked questions. (MacMinute.com)

Did the '5 apple' rating ever actually appear on an Apple product at the iPod Store? I never saw one, just the 'stars' ratings for 3rd party items.

Even the iPod socks don't have a '5 apple' rating listed. :D

Yes, but quite a while before Apple knitted their colourful socks in time for the Christmas rush. :D

It's an actual question; did the 5 apple ratings ever appear on a product in the online store? Have you seen them?
