Shuffle Genres/PlayLists in iPod

I've finally purchased an 40GB iPod (Photo) and was expecting it to work pretty much the same as iTunes. I have over 5200 songs in 25 genres and would like to pick just one Genre like R&B and Shuffle. Unfortunately, Shuffle can only be applied to Albums and Songs.

You'd think that for $500.00 you would be able to Shuffle any Genre or any Playlist! Anyone out there got any ideas.

I had the 15Gb iPod and Just got the 60Gb iPod Photo and for both i was able to shuffle by Genre. The trick is not to use the "Shuffle Songs" at the main menu, but rather turn on "Shuffle" in settings. The difference is that the shuffle setting applies to whatever directory you choose to listen to your music from, while "Shuffle Songs" simply re-orders the current directory. The shuffle setting will shuffle any directory you play music from until you turn it off.

To do what you want, Go to Settings->Shuffle and change it to on, then go back to the main menu and go Music->Genre->R&B it will then play the R&B directory in a random order.

Personally, i removed the "Shuffle Songs" from the main menu (in settings->main menu) because it doesnt always work and it's just easier to use the other one.

Thanks, but when I go to Settings and Shuffle I press the white circle and it goes to Off, Songs or Albums. There is no On.

Can you set your Settings/Shuffle to On in your 60GB iPod?

just set it to songs. Unless you want to shuffle by album
