I'm not sure how to phrase this question. Basically I just got a new ipod and gave my old one to my g/f and she hates a lot of my music, so she doesn't want it on her ipod. Is there a way to set up two users in itunes with the entire play list but be able to select what goes on each ipod? The only tracks I have not go on mine are the singles I got off of itunes, and she only has a 15 gig ipod so she has to remove quite a bit.
I hope that made sense. If someone can think of a better title for this thread that is more clear then I'll rename it.
Thanx,
Stan

set up one or both iPods as not auto sync and just drag and drop stuff... thats the simplest solution I can think of.

Couldn't you just set each iPod to only sync certain playlist(s)? I think iTunes can remember settings for multiple 'Pods, although I can't test this because I only have one. :) With smart playlists and regular playlists, sorting your music shouldn't be hard.

You can add a new user (System Preferences > Accounts) for your g/f, get her to load iTunes while logged in as herself, then add all the songs she wants to *her* iTunes. This adds them to her library. She can then sync her iPod with her iTunes library, but you still only have one copy of the songs on your hard drive.
If she adds all the songs from your hard drive, she will have to update only selected playlists/songs by changing her iPod options.
HTH.

If you use the default location for iTunes music storage, it is stored within your user folder (~/Music/iTunes/, I believe), which may not be available to other users.

I realise that, but I don't know of many people who put their music inside their user folder (specifically because backing it all up takes ages). Mine, for example, is on a separate hard drive, that all users have access to, so adding it to any number of users' iTunes libraries causes no ownership problems.
