I just caught wind of this over on Apple.com... and i checked the info... it's just a repackaged Mozilla 1.0 rc2

I think that's kinda suprizing... I've never been a fan of their sidebar functions but now apparently you can choose AIM or ICQ with it's built in client.

Also interestingly.. it copied all of my settings exactly from the Mozilla nightly build i downloaded yesterday... even the scripting block to prevent popups... which isn't even a selectable option on the netscape build!

They completely share bookmarks, settings.... and cache!
meaning if you change one thing in mozilla it changes the same feature in netscape 7 and vice versa!is there any way to change this?!?

You don't need netscape. Stick with Mozilla. It's always a few bug fixes ahead of Netscape.

I beleive you are stuck with the shared preferences, although chimera and mozilla-mach both use a preference directory that is not shared with the regular Mozilla.

Netscape/Mozilla = Same prefs
Chimera/Mozilla-Mach = Same prefs

Don't get too excited.. It's not done yet. Dload it for fun to see where it's going, but seriously, stick with Mozilla.

I'm moving this over to news and reviews.

I can barely remember using Netscape any more. Mozilla has been berry berry good to me. :)

Chimera certainly shows excellent promise; it'll be fun to see where it stands come Jagwyre time.

make a different profile for mozilla/netscape to keep settings seperate.

If you are running xfree86 try dillo...a very easy install via fink and while it is feature poor it is very very fast. So if all you want to do is some quick surfing (to Slashdot ;-) then give it a whirl.
