iPod jammed?! -- Advice needed

Hi fellow podders,
I am a rather peculiar problem. I was listening to my pod when suddenly it stopped. THis is the situation. The backlight is on, the buttons are not responding, no music is playing, and when I switch the "hold" on, the little icon doesn't appear (ie not responding i guess). It's just kinda.. stuck?! The backlight is not going away - it's like frozen. I've tried to reboot it but none of the buttons are responding to me. I plugged it into the charger, but it aint' chargin either. Is this the end of my pod?? :(

Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thank you..

its toward the bottom. I really hope it wont be neccesary though

This happened to me; full lockup. Disconnect it and let it run the battery all the way to zero. Although this might shorten battery life (Lithumin batteries can sometimes loose cells if a full discharge happens), it should force a hard restart when power is applied.
