I am new to this, although I've been using ITunes for years and I've set up many EQ. presets. But they don't show up on my new IPod. What am I doing wrong?

If i remember correctly, there is not easy way to change the equalizers on the iPod...though it might be possible to hack the list/settings...

I was going to ask this but I haven't had the time to post. I'll be watching to see what people say.
Digging around in the hidden files hasn't thrown anything up to me that could be edited. Could it be that the equalisers are built into the firmware?

I don't believe there is a way to transfer custom EQ presets to the iPod, so you're not doing anything wrong, justins7.
Don't know if there's a way or not.. maybe a site such as www.ipodlounge.com would have something on it.
But yes, I too have wondered why Apple hasn't added this feature yet..
EDIT: I just thought of something that could possibly work -- in iTunes, select all your music, then press Cmd-I (Get info). From here, select the Options tab, then select your Equalizer preset. If you did this for all your music, you could just turn off the iTunes EQ then. Although I haven't tried this and don't know if will work, you can then retransfer all your music to your iPod that now has this EQ preset set in each song.
Hope that helps

I tried something like this:
I plugged my iPod into my computer, chose the iPod as the library to look at, went through each and every song. Lucky for me I have a 1st gen one, did get info, set an eq setting. Looking at my iPod it seemed to work. There was a little spinning recycle sign in the top left each time I hit okay.
I unplugged, turned on the iPod and it seems that it takes the setting for the first song chosen and uses that for each subsequent song. Not to my liking so I shut off all eq settings on the iPod.
Still searching for an answer. If anyone does figure this out, I would love to know how it works so I can do it as well.

It seems so obvious; I am very dissappointed that it's missing.
The problem is this: one of the main things I listen to (and reasons for buying the Ipod) is Old Radio. Often these old shows have HORRIBLE sound quality, and usually need ALL of the bass removed. You can only do that with the equalizer.
Oh well.

also, as a seperate idea, use sound studio (or equivilant app) to apply an equalizer filter...that way the actual song has more bass/treble without an equalizer on....though if you have a lot of files, I see how this would be a pain (applescript anyone?)
