Launching apps other than iTunes and iSync when iPod is connected?

iSync can be configured to start up automatically when an iPod is connected, as can iTunes, of course. Is there a way to make other apps, such as a backup script or something similar, launch when an iPod is connected to the Mac?

I don't know where to get em from (probably version tracker,) but there is an app called "Do Something When..." or something of that sort that I've heard let's you do actions on disk mounts and the like...
