Here's a weird one for you all...

Last night, I seemed to lose the ability to drag and drop in certain applications.

The Finder doesn't even acknowledge my attempts to drag icons, ie: when I tried to drag an AIFF file to iTunes to add it to my library, nothing happened. No translucent icon, no adding action, nothing.

Then this morning, I've found that I can't drag emails into my trash folder to delete them. They pick up and drag, but no targets highlight when I drag over them.

I was about to re-install OS X until I logged in as my wife, and everything worked fine.

I'm running 10.3.6 with all the latest patches. It started acting funny a couple days ago, so I restarted it. I have a screenshot of the "acting funny"-ness, which I'll try to post.

Sorry about the ginormous picture... :o

I suggest that you remove the Finder plist.

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Finder.plist

Then logout and log back in.

Also, if you're using any system "enchancement" software, I'd disable it until you get this working.

Can you command-drag those (useless) question marks off the toolbar?

;) :D  :p

Well, it cured itself with a restart. This morning, lookupd was using 100% of my cpu time, so I gave the machine a restart. Looks like everything's back to normal now.

Chalk this one up to gremlins, I guess.

Oh, and those question-marks in my toolbar are my AFP shares on my linux server, though no, I didn't try dragging them.

Ah well. Thanks anyway, all.
