View Full Version : error 22
I'm trying to burn a DVD using disk copy and keep getting this message:
Burn failed with error 22. (Invalid argument)
Anyone have any ideas whats up?

You want to make sure that you have a valid image (eg- it is not corrupted or damaged in any way). (There might be a different way to do this under 10.2, which it sounds like you have, but since I only have a copy of 10.3 in front of me....) To do this, you need to:
1) Open Disk Utility.
2) Select Verify from the Images Menu.
3) Let it do its thing (this should run the sum-check and give it to you). Note: If it reports an invalid sum-check then the image is corrupt and probably unrecoverable, sorry but you probably have to start again.
4) This will make the image appear in the side bar, now you need to select the image but not mount it.
5) In the lower right hand corner of the window the "Verify Disk" option becomes enabled.
6) Click it. This will run standard Disk Utility framework disk checks, the same ones it uses for any mounted volume.
7) If a problem is reported, you can try to fix it.
Otherwise, if you are using 10.3 then you should be using Disk Utility, not 10.2's disk copy (Apple actually changed the framework between the versions so disk copy is unstable under 10.3). Otherwise you can try using hdiutil (the command line interface to the Disk Images framework); "man hdiutil" in the terminal for more info- don't do this if you are unfamiliar with the command line.
I hope this helps.
RMN,
That was it...thanks.
Disk utility worked.
I had upgraded to 10.3 a few weeks ago.
