Hello,
Is there a keyboard shortcut to maximize a window? Like pressing the green button.
Thanks alot!

Like pressing the green button.
Do you have OS X 10.3? If you do, then open System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts, and add a shortcut to the bottom of the list.
Edit: FYI: That green button is often called the zoom button.
Clarification: In the Keyboard Shortcuts window (technically a preference pane), you want to click the "+" button, enter "Zoom" as the Menu Title, and then enter your desired shortcut. For all applications that have the zoom function enabled, this shortcut will have the same effect as pressing the "green button".

How would you add a shortcut for Maximize if there isn't a menu command to map it to?

If that was directed at me, see my edited post above.

It was directed at you, and you answered it as well as possible under the circumstances.
The circumstances being that there are two big "ifs" here:
1. Some apps use the green button but provide no menu command, so the shortcut doesn't work. My question was also to see whether there was a way to use the keyboard shortcut feature with non-menu controls, but there doesn't seem to be.
2. "Zoom" is not the same as "Maximize," which is not supported on Mac OS X except for the few apps that implement it on their own.

In response to the "ifs":
1. They should (http://developer.apple.com/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/OSXHIGuidelines/XHIGMenus/chapter_7_section_4.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP30000356/TPXREF106). (Apple HIG)
2. Explained at xvsxp.com (http://www.xvsxp.com/desktop_windows/#maximize) (which references the HIG (http://developer.apple.com/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/OSXHIGuidelines/XHIGWindows/chapter_8_section_4.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/20000961/BACEDHFG)).
My question was also to see whether there was a way to use the keyboard shortcut feature with non-menu controls.
I'm not aware of any way to do that.

I found a solution at this post (http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20051227001809626). It works as promised and it's soooo nice! Basically you use keyboard shortcut that Quicksilver notices, and when it does it runs a script that maximizes the window, just as if you clicked on that button.
