View Full Version : Change My Name Please?

Twelve Motion

I know it probably isn't done much, but I would like my user name to be changed from 12Motion to "Twelve Motion."

Why you ask? I will tell you, when I first registered to this forum I registered to everything as 12Motion, but the problem is for some reason I stopped doing that and began registering as Twelve Motion. Finally I decided I like Twelve Motion better and went back to change it on all of my things. This is the last forum/game left when I am still called 12Motion and it screws me up with it makes me log in again. because it always takes me a couple tries. Anyway I like Twelve Motion better anyway.

Is it possible to change it?

AFAIK, it's not possible to change it. I'd suggest re-registering yourself with your new name.

Then 12Motions posts are lost...

They will not be removed, they just won't be attributed to "Twelve Motion".

While I believe Griffman could go in and hand-edit the database to change the username, I'm not sure that "because I like this other version of the same name better after making 300 posts" is a good enough reason to do that.

It would be setting a precedent that is perhaps better left unset. But we'll see what he thinks.

I think doing a name-change like this would be a good value-added service that might be charged for. How much might you be willing to pay for this, 12Motion?

Hahaha well it's not THAT importiant to me. But the reason "I like that one better" isn't exactly accurate. The more importiant reason is, all my other forums and video games and anything else I am registered as Twelve Motion and it causes me discomfort to remember that I am still 12Motion here. I think the fact that I have 300 posts shows that I participate in the community and I have some staying power (although 300 isn't THAT many posts). I understand how changing names for new people who have 10-25 posts could get tiresome, but I a am a fairly established user and I would really appreciate it. I have a forum on my website, and although I allow users to change thier own names, going in manually to change someones name isn't that big of a hassle. it takes no more time then replying to a simple help request.

But if it is indeed a presedent you don't want to set, I will respect that.

Of whom is this 12Motion you speak? I see nobody here by that name.

;)

Since the whole process took about 12 seconds, including the search, I can't really take much credit. Instead, thank the vBulletin team for writing a very nice admin interface that makes such tasks trivial.

I meant post counts. Trust me to miss a word out.
