I'm not sure what they're doing, but you can get all that stuff for free (since it's all GPL'd). If you pay them $59, you're paying for their labor in pre-compiling the stuff. So basically it's a choice - your time to install the tools yourself, or your money to buy pre-compiled versions...

maybe Apple should be sponsoring links for you instead of them!

Check out FINK project on sourceforge.net ("http://fink.sourceforge.net/").
Those guys ported the Debian package manager to OS X. This has made it
possible to port most open source Unix packages to OS X very easily.
One can install the packages either only as a binary package, or source
that is compiled on your machine. It is all automated.
I had read on the Fink site that the OpenOSX folks had taken this port
of the package manager, and were providing packages on a CD and
charging some money for that convenience.
If you have a high speed Internet connection, you can get all the packages
from the Fink site directly for free.
(Disclaimer: I have no association with either OpenOSX or Fink, except
as a satisfied Fink user.)

i support fink, and fink takes umbrage at openosx's methods, and so do i, so, i don't support openosx.
