After many tries I finally got websharing to work with OSX. For some reason I'd forgotten to insert the tilde before my OSX short user name.
When I access my machine from another location, I type in the machine's IP address and get connected. What I notice is that, once connected the IP in the address bar changes to another.
For example - Let's say my machine's IP is 123.123.123.12, well, I'll enter, http://123.123.123.12/~my username. This connects me.
When I look in the address bar the URL has become - http://123.120.0.7/~myusername.
If I now use the changed URL I can still access my machine.
I'm really new at this and would appreciate a simple explanation of why the IP address changes once I have connected to my machine.
Thanks.
