I have a regular 4G iPod in my car and a iPod shuffle that I use for walks, working out, etc. I have been listening to a number of audible audiobooks. I walk in the morning and listen to the iPod in the car when commuting. When I use the shuffle in the morning I have to hold the fast forward button for a while to find my place, sometimes this takes a while. With no display on the shuffle it is a pain. Is there any easier way to get to the point I want to listen to on the shuffle?
thanks

Yes! I had this same problem and I thought of a good solution using Automator:
Download Doug's Automator Actions for iTunes. (http://www.dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/scripts12.php?page=1#dougsactionsvol1) (it's free)
Write an Automator workflow like this:
Get Selected iTunes Items
Choose Encoder (AAC @ Whatever bitrate you want)
Make AAC Tracks Bookmarkable
Restore Encoder
Copy Tracks to iPod
To Execute: select the audiobook files in iTunes and run the workflow in Automator. Save for later
This is how I do it, obviously you can modify the workflow however you want.

Thanks for the reply. I will take a look. I want to make sure this will help my problem. I am able to come back to the correct point in the iPod shuffle that I left off from, but having listened to more of my book on another iPod I want to quickly speed things up and fast forward. With no display and only holding down the fast forward button (for quite a while) it is a real pain. Would this solution help?

If they are synced from the same library then yes this should work but it sounds like they are already bookbarkable. Try syncing all your iPod's libraries or listen to that particular audiobook on one iPod.
