I've currently got my music library on my iMac at work, which is where I sync my iPod, download songs etc.
I've just bought a G4 Powerbook and now want to use this for storing my music and syncing with my iPod etc. How do I physically move songs from one to the other?
Probably a common question but cannot find the answer actually spelled out anywhere...Thanks

Sinc you own the music its not real difficult (if you didn't this would be stealing and that is wrong.) You could just boot your PB into firewire target mode navigate to your music library and transfer your library over firewire. Then just improt the songs on your pb using iTunes. You could also use one of the many pod rippers such as ipodrip http://www.thelittleappfactory.com/application.php?app=iPodRip or my favorite podworks http://www.scifihifi.com/podworks/ These work quite well an will take songs from your pod and put them in itunes. The only thing you need to make sure of is set your pod to do manual syncing. If you have it set to auto sync and connect it to your pb with no library it will erase all of the songs on your pod. So set it to manual sync on your work computer first then use a ripper to transfer your library.

You might want to use the Migration Assistant that is part of the Tiger install to copy over +all+ your stuff to the new machine.

Worked like a charm for me.

If you want to read more about it before you try, there's an interesting article about it here:

You can try the terminal commands ditto and cp.... but there are easier ways im sure :-)

Best way is use the Migration Assistant.... It will transfer Applications, Prefrence Files, and your Users folder
