so I love the idea of having the artwork for every album but I hate the fact that it wastes space on my ipod (I have a 40gig G4 Ipod - not photo).

Is there any sort of way to *not* sync the artwork to your ipod? I guess it seems impossible given the fact that the artwork is saved to the actual mp3... just thought I'd ask.

Better yet, is there a way to associate an album cover in itunes with an mp3 without saving the album cover to the mp3? (ie. saving it somewhere on disk)?

Thanks

Yes there is.

A very neat app Synergy (http://wincent.com/a/products/synergy-classic/) stores Artwork outside the ID3 tags and places them in named folders. You can do this and much much more (if you want it to). Also looks like they updated it for Tiger. :)

You can then Delete all your artwork in iTunes and move over to iTunes. There might be a way to transfer your current covers but I'm not to sure unless you do it manually. Synergy can also find them automatically in the backround from the Internet.
