Hi

I am trying to unstuff a .rar file and keep getting this error message :

Format Error
Error #17540

Is this recoverable in some way ?

Stuffits implementation of formats they did not cook up themselves is notoriously flaky.
There is a command-line version of unrar in fink or darwinports and there might even be on with a GUI if you look on versiontracker.

I have the command line version, but cannot seem to get it to work, just keeps telling me that the command cannot be found :(

It probably is not in your $PATH then.

Invoke it with a fully qualified pathname then, perhaps:

/sw/bin/unrar

Note that unrar has weird command syntax, don't forget the

e

...

I use an app called unrarx (http://unrarx.sourceforge.net/) for rar files.

Yup, just found that myself, downloaded and it done the job just fine.

I was having a similar problem. Couldn't get the command line to work.
unrarX saved me much hassle and time, cheers!

What should i do if i am using unrarX but the file fails because there is a password but i cannot enter one?
