This may seem like a somewhat neive question but here it goes. I have read a little about the buying of songs/albums from iTunes. I think I read that there is somehting done to them that iTunes can recognize that they were bought from iTunes. First is this true? Also, what is it that is done and does it effect moving files from one computer to another, say from home to school or work? Thanks for the info in advance.

Yes, it's tagged as "Purchased Music." There is no problem playing them on another computer as long as all the iTunes on the computers you move them between are authorized to you. Apple lets you authorize up to five computers. No other computers can play your music. You set the authorization in iTunes. Info on this page (http://www.apple.com/itunes/share.html).

If you want to remove all restrictions, burn a CD of your purchased music and then re-import them. They will no longer be restricted, but the re-importation process will lower their quality a little.

There is no restriction on the number of times you can burn a purchased song to CD. However, you can only burn a specific playlist a limited number of times, I can't remember what the number is but you can look it up.
